Antoine Bouvard

1870 – 1955

 

Antoine Bouvard painted Venetian scenes and exhibited his works in Paris and Venice. He was the son of Antoine J Bouvard, 1840 – 1920. Bouvard Senior trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris under Constant-Dufeux and became the Director of Architectural Services for the Seine as well as continuing his flourishing career as an artist.

 

Bouvard, who was a pupil of his father, often accompanied him to Venice where they both painted the exquisite vistas of the Venetian backwaters and the also the main sites of beauty. His work is suffused with light, which is so typical of Venice, and has a fluid, intensity of colour.

 

Bouvard’s works are internationally collected and have achieved great popularity and recognition in the last twenty years.
